Teeth, T-Ball, and Trucks

This is Xander's monster truck course he built on the couch. Do you see the Little People in the back that he sat up as spectators? He calls them "watchers". 

Xander's last t-ball game and awards ceremony was Tuesday night. Luckily it wasn't quite as hot as it had been in the past. Lily just loves watching Xander play t-ball. Lily also had her second tooth poke through (the bottom middle right if looking at her). 

Gram and Gramps came to watch too.

Overall t-ball was a really great experience for Xander. He struggled to play on the nights when it was crazy hot, but I really won't have wanted to be out there either. It was great lesson in patience. There is a lot of waiting around for your turn. He definitely liked batting better than fielding. He did a really great job!

On Wednesday Lily had a friend over to play. Nina (and her parents) recently started coming to our church. Nina is only two days older than Lily, so Lily met her rolling, grabbing, and scooting match.

I had a "I am glad I took this opportunity" mother moment with Xander this week. I had to go out to TJ Maxx to look for a few things for some birthdays we had coming up. I love TJ Maxx. I could wonder around their home wares area forever. I was planning on going after dinner and I have to admit I was really looking forward to a nice five minute car ride and an hour or browsing and looking for the perfect gifts with no one calling my name or demanding my attention. In other words this mom was going to check out of crazy mom land (and believe me with my wonderful three year old it can be crazy) for awhile. Anyways, after dinner I told Jason I was leaving and I hear a sweet little voice say, "Mom, can I go with you?" I tried to convince the sweet child that he would much rather stay home and play with Dadoo, but it was getting me nowhere. (Ok, I know what you other moms are thinking, "Just say good bye quick and get the heck out of there.) Instead I sighed loudly (in my head) and told him I would love it if he came. In the end I am super glad I took him. We had a great time together and he was so good as we went down every aisle of the home decorations. He was even offering suggestions on things he thought I might like. Oh, and we found a really cute set of dinosaur sheets for his bed, plus the stuff we actually went to buy. On the way home we saw this hot air balloon. I rolled down the windows, turned the car around, and we chased it. It was so low for awhile I thought it might land and how cool would that be to see? It didn't land though and we had to give up our chase, but we both had a really great time. 

I left the windows down on the rest of our drive home. When we got closer to our street Xander asked me. "Mom, what is hitting my nose?" I told him it was the wind. It was quiet for a little while and then he says, "But mom the trees are not moving." I then tried to explain how the speed of the car was making the wind. I am not sure if I helped or just confused him more. All that to say, I amazed at how fast he is growing up and is thinking is deepening. He doesn't always use it for good, but I guess that all comes with the age. I am glad my sweet three year old and I were able to enjoy a lovely evening together. 

Heat Wave

It was beyond hot here this week. Everyday the temperatures were in the 90's and the heat index was well into the 100's! Yuck! We tried to make the best of our week. 

On Monday I noticed that Lily's very first tooth had just popped through (bottom left middle if you are looking at her). She's a little over 6 months old, so she is getting teeth before Xander did. Every reminder that Lily is getting bigger is so bittersweet. She was just as happy as ever, so I think the teeth working their way up through the gums bothered her more. I think she will have her second tooth coming up soon. 

We also headed to the library. Xander is halfway done with the summer reading program. Isn't it nice that the paper is upside down. He got his sheet stamped and a Greene County Library sippy cup. :) He likes it, so that is all that really matters. Oh, he got to pick a little toy from a prize box. 

My mom was able to stop by this week. Luckily for her we were making chocolate covered strawberries and bananas. My friend Mary recommend this awesome melting chocolate from Krogers. It was so good! 

I had to throw this one in there because Lily is nawing on everything! If she doesn't have anything in her hands she will stick out her tongue and chew on it. 

On Wednesday Mary and Christina (along with all the children) came over for a play date. The kids had fun playing in the pool, water table, and sprinkler. I also bought these squirt bottles from IKEA for 99 cents and the kids had a great time squirting each other. Lily even splashed in the water table. It was so hot that by lunch time we all came in. 

My parents were also able to make it to see one of Xander's last t-ball games for the year. It was over 100 degrees with the heat index. I thought sure they might cancel the game, but they didn't. Xander was a trooper and he played well. My dad even took us for pizza afterwards. 

Friday night we had the Comers over for dinner. The boys had fun (as always). Lily is now 6 months old and Amelia just turned 3 months. It is the only time in their lives where Lily will be twice her age. 

Like I said earlier, Lily will put anything into her mouth. She even tried to eat Amelia's head. 

So cute, right? Even though Lily looks spooked she was actually trying to reach for his head.
